The Greenwich Tavern dates back to at least the early 19th century, although the exact date of its founding is not well-documented. Originally, the pub was known as The Gloucester Arms, a name it retained for much of its history. It became a central part of Jonathan Harvey’s film, Beautiful Thing, which the main characters visited at a pivotal part of the story. A Rainbow Plaque can be seen on the building commemorating the pubs part in LGBT history. Today, The Greenwich Tavern is a popular destination for both locals and tourists. It is known for its friendly atmosphere, good food, and an excellent selection of drinks.
