The Cutty Sark pub was established in the around 1795, although some references exist to a pub on the site as early as 1743. It is named after the Cutty Sark, the famous 19th-century tea clipper ship that is now a historic landmark and museum in Greenwich, although it has previously gone by the names Union Tavern and The Green Man. The Cutty Sark has twice appeared in feature films – first in the 1963 Hollywood movie, The List Of Adrian Messenger, and then in the 1997 British gay-themed love story, Beautiful Thing. As one of the four Young’s pubs in the Greenwich area, it is heavily food-led.
